Galaxy Watch

Hello,

I am thinking of purchasing a Galaxy watch 4 classic from CEX (a UK used technology retailer), I have a Google Pixel phone, would I be able to use Google Pay on the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic to pay for items instead of using the Google Pay on my phone.

I have tried researching it but I seem to be getting mixed responses.

Can somebody help me?

You can use Google pay on the watch. You can program the home button to activate it with a double tap, or you can use the swipe up from from the watch face to access the apps screen and tap the icon. Even though you will have a UK version of the watch, it should work the same way as it does on the US version, but you might want to go for a watch 6 or 7, since they are newer.

Yeah I know that the 6 and the 7 are newer but I have a limited budget and I can get the 4 classic for £45 so I think I will go with it anyway. Just to double check it will work fine even though I don't have a Samsung phone, from my research I think it should but I just want to check before I purchase it.

The watch 6, will do you well and is still eligible for the OneUI8 update.  Since devices and apps can differ in different regions, it may or may not work for you.  I know it works flawlessly here in the U.S.  Google Wallet should come pre-installed on the watch, then it's just a matter of making it your default payment method and either just choosing to access it directly from the apps screen or mapping the home button to activate it on the double tap.

It should not matter whether your phone is Samsung or not, Google Wallet is Google, and the watch  uses WearOs, which is Google.

I think even if it may not support the Google Pay I will still go for the Galaxy Watch Four, it will be my first every smartwatch so it will be an upgrade anyway, I only really want it for the navigation, workout tracking and to receive calls from my phone. The Galaxy Watch 4 is only £45 plus a strap. I don't particularly want to spend more than £55.

It will support Google Pay.  It's just a matter of whether you can map the double tap of the home button, which you should, since it's done through the Wear app, not the phone.  Watch settings/buttons and gestures.

Since, at such a low price it's probably a used item, make sure you have some guarantee of workability.

Yes CEX is a used technology retailer, it comes with  a 5 year warranty and in my experience they have been really good. Plus I will most likely be purchasing in my local store so I can check it before purchasing.
