No sound on notifications

I have gone through every setting on my phone. Made sure notifications were on sound was up etc. Googled and tried every suggestion. What has been happening and it started I feel like around the last update. I don't get a text preview (google messages) at the top of my screen or the audible/vibrate notification. All I get is the message icon appears. So basically if I'm doing anything where the top of the screen isn't visible I have no idea it came through. Even with my Samsung watch it doesn't show there. I feel like it has something to do with the silenced symbol next to the app. There are more than one like that. I've tried everything to get it to go away but no luck. Any one have this issue and found a fix? Appreciate any help thank you.

@userseoxTfEKyxĀ The muted speaker icon to the right of the Google Messages line means that you have Notification sound turned off for Google Messages. This will prevent sound and vibration.Ā

If you want to change that, click on the top Messages entry in your screenshot. That is Google Messages. Then enable the "Sound and vibration" option.Ā

Thank you for the help. But I don't have that option anywhere. Outside of the app in the settings or in the app settings.

@userseoxTfEKyxĀ On your screenshot above, click on the word "Messages" and it should take you to the screen I posted.Ā

This is what I get. Now if I do the same thing on the default Samsung messaging app. I get that sounds and vibration option.1752594457614.jpg

Tap on notification categories and tap on incoming messages, make sure it's turned on. Select "alert" and choose a sound if you wish.

@userseoxTfEKyxĀ Something is strange. You should see that option on both. Also your sliders should have a blue highlight when they are on (slid to the right).Ā

Have you tried wiping the device cache partition? It wipes out incompatible or outdated cache information. It does not erase any user data nor applications.

To wipe the device cache partition:

1. Power off your device.
2. Power up while holding down the Volume up key and the Side key until the Samsung logo appears.Ā
3. An Android recovery menu will appear.
4. Use the Volume down key to scroll down to Wipe cache partition.
5. Click the side key to select it.
6. Use the Volume down key to scroll down to Yes.Ā
7. Click the side key to select it. The Cache will be wiped almost instantaneously.Ā
8. Click the side key to select "Reboot system now"Ā

That icon appears on a couple of my downloaded apps and a couple system apps. All of them are missing the sound and vibration options.
