App search gone from screen top when I tap 3 vertical lines at lower left

It was handy to use. Recent update took it away.

On the apps screen, the search bar is now at the bottom of the screen. When you click on it to type, the search bar moves above the keyboard.

Not where I mean. Tapping the 3 vertical lines at lower left brings you to open apps. There used to be an app search bar at top. It's gone now.

The one tap from any screen was perfect.

This is something that you have to enable in Good Lock's Home Up -> Task changer settings.

Home Up is a module of Good Lock. Good Lock is available in the Galaxy Store. Good Lock is made by Samsung and free.

Why did the last big UI update take away the app search bar from the "open apps" screen?

That has only been available via Good Lock for the last several versions.

Not in my experience all along. And I load the updates right away. And I do not have Good Lock. Never have, never heard of it before.

Poster is talking about the recent screen. They are using buttons. 3 vertical lines is the recent button.

Exactly I understand completely. Home Up enables the search in the recents screen.

Happens all the time, adjust, or find a solution. The solution is what @LongHiker suggested. Download Good Lock from the Galaxy Store, then the module HomeUp. In the section called Task Changer, you can toggle on search in the recent apps page.
